
Arielle Taitano Lowe

Arielle Taitano Lowe (she/her) is the first Indigenous Chamoru woman born and raised in Guåhan (Guam) to publish a book of poetry. Her debut book OCEAN MOTHER (U of Guam P, 2024) weaves together her childhood memories in Guåhan, her realizations made across the ocean, and her return home. She has received fellowships from the Poetry Coalition at the Academy of American Poets, Indigenous Nations Poets, and Storyknife. Her poetry can also be found in Indigenous Literatures from Micronesia, Indigenous Pacific Islander Eco-Literatures, Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day series, and elsewhere. She believes in the healing and dreaming power of poetry and strives to continue the work of her ancestors.
