Hello Friends! We have a good new day.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day we invite you to support poets who are Indigenizing contemporary poetry by writing in their traditional languages. Please donate to Indigenous Nations Poets’ #LanguageBack program. #LanguageBack provides workshops, readings, and conversations that center poetry’s role in language revitalization. Poetry in Indigenous Languages can become a vehicle for expanding access to Traditional Knowledge and cultural practices within tribal communities, and sharing those teachings in service of climate change intervention.

We know that when we embrace our traditional languages we are:

Honoring our multi-generational ties while ensuring our descendents’ futures

Affirming our identities while living our cultural values.

Our languages connect us to one another and to the more-than-human world that surrounds us. It embodies our knowledge and ways of being while pointing us to a future in which we and all our relatives thrive together.

Join us in celebrating #LanguageBack. Your donation supports Indigenous Nations Poets #LanguageBack programming, which includes workshops, virtual conversations, publication opportunities, and more, that uplift Native poets and honor Indigenous poetics.
